If God Is So Good, Why Is There Sin in the World?

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Reading: Romans 5:12-21

“If God is so good, why is there sin in the world?”

God created a perfect, sinless world. He never planned for us to have to live in such

an evil world. Sin came later. Romans 5:12 tells us, “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man [Adam], and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned.”

When God created humans, He made us with a free will. That means we have the ability to choose what we want to do. We can choose to do right or we can choose to do wrong. It’s up to us.

Sin started when Adam, the first man, chose to disobey God’s instructions and take a bite of the “forbidden fruit.”

Why doesn’t God just get rid of all of that evil sin?

God could easily do that, but He lets us make our own choices, even if they are bad ones. He sometimes lets us learn the hard way that obeying him is best.

What is God solution to the sin in the world?

Someone had to be punished (die) for our sins, but God loves us so much, that He didn’t want us to have be punished. So, God sent Jesus die for us.

All we have to do is believe that and we get to skip the punishment and go to heaven!

Aren’t you glad that God is so good?

“For if, by the trespass of the one man [Ada,], death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are truly good! Thank You for the promise of salvation from sin and eternal life through Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
