Wednesday at the Well: Luke 6:43-45 - G.I.G.O.

Bible Verses to Explore: Luke 6:43-45

“GIGO” is an old computer word. It means, “Garbage in, garbage out.” That phrase was used to indicate that the computer can give you only as good an answer to a problem

and the quality of information that you put into the computer. If the computer programmer gives the computer the wrong information, the computer is guaranteed to

give the programmer the wrong answers.

Our minds work the same way. If we put bad, impure, hateful, or hurtful information into our minds, we are guaranteed to have our minds lead our bodies into bad, impure, hateful, or hurtful actions.

But, if we put pure, godly information into our minds, we are guaranteed that we will get pure, godly information from our minds. Then we will act in pure, godly ways. Paul advised in Philippians 4:8, “think about what is good and worthy of praise. Think about what is true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.” I think that is good advice. Why? Those are the things that God wants us to think about.

What are you putting into your mind – garbage or godly information? I hope you are obeying God and following Paul’s advice and keeping the words Jesus spoke in Matthew 12:45b in your mind. Here’s that verse: “What people say with their mouths comes from what fills their hearts.”

Please pray with me. Heavenly Father, remind us to only let pure, godly information into the computer in our heads. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Now, please consider clicking on the logo, downloading the Inductive Study Guide, and exploring Matthew 6:43-45 a bit more. It’s worth it!
