Raised to Life

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Reading: John 11:25, 26 & Colossians 1:15-23

Life was Jesus’ idea and Jesus was the one who created it. Only Jesus is able to give life. Jesus gave us life originally when He created us and the rest of the world. He

intended that we would live a perfect life in paradise with Him forever.

Sin spoiled Jesus’ plans. Sin separated us from Jesus by dooming us to eternal death. Eternal death means being separated from Him forever.

Jesus didn’t want us to be separated from Him forever, though, so He came up with another plan. In John 11: 25 & 26 Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” Through His crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus bought us back from eternal death and separation from God by taking our punishment for us. In other words, when Jesus physically died and was resurrected or raised back to life, we were resurrected or raised back to life spiritually. We no longer have to suffer eternal death by being separated from God forever.

Are you still “dead” spiritually or have you been “raised to life” by asking Jesus to forgive your sins and take control of your life?

“Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.” Colossians 1:21 & 22

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for forgiving my sins and give me a new life because died and was punished in my place. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
