Why do we use dental floss?
Dental floss helps us remove sticky plaque and little bits of food from our teeth. If we neglect to use dental floss every day, our teeth and gums can become decayed and
diseased. Decay makes our teeth weak. Disease can make our gums shrink and our teeth to become loose. When our teeth and gums become decayed and diseased, they can’t do their jobs.
The Bible and the Holy Spirit are like spiritual dental floss. They help clean away the sticky bad habits , wrong attitudes, and self-centeredness from our lives. Reading the Bible, praying, and listening for direction from the Holy Spirit help to keep us spiritually strong. Memorizing the Bible and obeying the
Holy Spirit’s leading help us to resist the temptation to sin. 2 Timothy 3:16 & 17 teach us, “All Scripture is given by God. And all Scripture is useful for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives. It is useful for correcting faults and teaching the right way to live,” and Psalm 119:11 says, “I study your teachings very carefully so that I will not sin against you.”
