Bible Reading: Proverbs 20:9
King Solomon asked a thought-provoking question in Proverbs 20:9, “Who can say, ‘I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin’?”
Purity doesn’t belong exclusively to the intimate, sexual part of our lives. God wants us to be pure in every area of our lives, including our spiritual lives.
How can our spiritual lives become impure?
Impurity can creep into our spiritual lives when we listen to words that aren’t in agreement with God’s words.
Impurity sneaks into our lives when we look at anything that is counter to God’s plan for our lives.
Impurity slips into our lives when we allow ourselves to hear any teachings that are not proven truths in God’s word.
When impurity slinks into our lives, it gradually takes hold of our spiritual lives. It slowly defiles the beauty and godliness in our lives and drains our spiritual vitality. What may seem to be “harmless” gossip or foolish chatter could destroy your walk with Christ.
What steps are you taking or do you need to take to banish impurity from your spiritual life?
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.” Colossians 3:5
Prayer: Heavenly Father, point out any impurity in any area of my life and work with me to purify my life for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
