Wednesday at the Well: Proverbs 13:15-25 - Wise Friends

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Verses to Explore: Proverbs 13:15-25

A wise person is the best kind of friend. Let me describe a wise friend.

A wise friend believes other people’s feelings and needs are more important than his

own feelings and needs. A wise friend knows the right time to speak and the right time to stay quiet. A wise friend thinks before acting or speaking. A wise friend chooses his actions carefully. A wise friend encourages his friends. He helps them make good choices. A wise friend doesn’t want his friends to sin. He doesn’t want his friends to do foolish, dangerous things. A wise friend is a good judge of character. A wise friend cares about his friends. He wants them to know Jesus as their

Savior. A wise friend helps his friends become wise.

According to verse 20 of today's Bible reading, that is the kind of person we should choose to be our friend. This verse reads, "Be friends with those who are wise, and you will become wise. Choose fools to be your friends, and you will have trouble."

What kind of people does a wise friend want to have as friends? Other wise people. People who help his faith in God grow. People who can help him become wiser.

Are your friends wise?

Ask God to give you wise friends.

Are you a wise friend?

Ask God to help you become a truly wise friend.

Let’s keep the words of Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, in our minds. In Proverbs 14:16 Solomon said, “A wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless.”

Please pray with me. Heavenly Father, give us wise friends and help us to be a wise friend. In Jesus' name. Amen.
