Bible Reading: Psalm 73:24
Have you lost someone close to you to death? Are you trying to figure out how to get over the loss?
It takes time to grieve over the loss of someone you love, and that’s okay. Not everyone grieves in the same way. Some people:
* Cry.
* Take walks.
* Talk to friends.
* Seek solitude and quiet.
* Look at pictures and scrapbooks.
* Relive memories.
* Watch nature.
* Listen to music.
* Read about others who have also lost someone they loved.
* Seek counsel and comfort from God’s Word.
* Seek comfort of God in prayer.
Allow yourself time to grieve. While you are grieving, do what is comforting for you and what allows your heart and mind to mend.
Remember – death isn’t the end. As a Christian, you will be reunited with your Christian friends, family, and loved ones someday in heaven. Psalm 73:24 says, “You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.” God is with us here on earth guiding us and helping us in our day-to-day lives. When our lives here on earth are over, God will be with us and will take us to heaven to be with Him in glory forever. When that happens, you and I will be reunited with all of our friends that have gone before us into glory.
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16 & 17
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the comfort of knowing that my friend is with you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
