Wednesday at the Well: Proverbs 2:1-6 - Where to Start

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Verses to Explore: Proverbs 2:1-6

Today's Bible reading says, "Turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look

for it as for silver and search for it as hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God."

Is that what you want – to gain wisdom and knowledge? True wisdom and knowledge come from God and can only be learned by reading and studying the Bible.

The Bible is a big book, so where should you start?

Go straight to God. Ask him to open your eyes. Ask him to open your ears. Ask him to open your mind. Ask him to fill you with his knowledge and wisdom.

Then, pick up your Bible, choose a book in it (perhaps an epistle or a gospel to begin with,) read a little of it each day, and let God teach you. He’s more than willing, just as Proverbs 2:6 says, if we diligently seek wisdom and knowledge from the Lord, “…the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."

Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, give us Your knowledge and the wisdom to use that knowledge as we study Your Word. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Thanks for reading my thoughts. I hope you will click on the logo, download the Inductive Study Guide, and spend some time seeking knowledge and wisdom from the Lord.
