Bible Reading: Proverbs 18:24
Friendship is mutual. You can’t be friends with a person who doesn’t want to be friends with you. Friendship requires that two people agree to be in the relationship, that
two people choose to spend time with each other, share secrets, and keep promises.
Sometimes friends do things that hurt one another. When one friend is hurt, the friendship is hurt. In order to put the friendship back together, the injured friend must be willing to forgive. When that happens, the friendship can be repaired. Sadly, there are times when an injured friend refuses to forgive the friend who hurt him. When that happens, friendships are lost.
While human friends are imperfect, Jesus is the perfect friend. Proverbs 18:24 says this about Jesus: “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Jesus loyal, He wants to share His secrets with you and He promises to always keep your secrets. Jesus will always forgive you when you say or do something that hurts Him. Jesus even died for you.
Jesus has chosen you to be His friend, but He can’t be your friend if you won’t accept His salvation and friendship. Won’t you choose Jesus to be your savior and friend today?
“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends…I [Jesus] no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:13 & 15
Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive my sins. I want Jesus to be my Lord, my Savior, and my Friend. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
