Wednesday at the Well: Proverbs 3:5-7 - Trust God, Period.

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Verses to Explore: Proverbs 3:5 & 6

Many people are afraid of what will happen in the future. They often use strange things like horoscopes and tarot cards to try to learn what will happen in the future. Why?

They believe that if they know what will happen in the future they will be less afraid.

In Leviticus 19:31 God says, “Do not go to mediums or wizards for advice – they will only make you unclean. I am the Lord your God.” That means that doing any of these strange things is sin. They are false gods. They can trap us. They can be addictive. They distract us from God. They make us forget that we belong to God and that He is in control of our lives. When we forget God is in control, we forget to trust Him

and we become worried, afraid, and unhappy.

God wants us to trust only Him with our life and future. Proverbs 3:7 says, “Trust the Lord completely, and don't depend on your own knowledge.” When we trust God to take care of our future we will have true joy and peace of mind.

I hope you will decide to trust only God to help you both for now and for the future. As you do, you will be able to claim the promised blessing found in Psalm 40:4 – “Great blessings belong to those who trust in the Lord, for those who do not turn to demons and false gods for help.”

Let’s pray. God, keep our minds on You. Help us to trust You to guide us now and in the future. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
