Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:4
1 Corinthians 12:4 says, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.” In other words, while there is only one Holy Spirit available to us, God has made many different
gifts and talents available to us.
From the beginning of time, people have sought and found ways to use the abilities and interests that God gave them.
* Abel loved animals. He became the first shepherd in the Bible (Genesis 4:2).
* Cain was fascinated with how plants grew. He became the first farmer (Genesis 4:2). Later he demonstrated great ability as a builder (Genesis 4:17).
* Jabal invented the tent (Genesis 4:21).
* Tubal-Cain was the first metal craftsman in the Bible (Genesis 4:22).
* Jubal made musical instruments (Genesis 4:20).
Are you in a rut? Do you feel like you would like to try something different?
Don’t be afraid to stretch your abilities. God has given each one of us different abilities and interests. He wants us to use them to the fullest. That may include finding new ways to do old things or finding new ways to worship God, serve others, and share the Good News about Jesus.
What new way can you use your abilities and interests for God?
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
Prayer: Heavenly Father, open my eyes to all of the possible ways to use my abilities and interests for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
