Wednesday at the Well: Philippians 2:1-11 - Think Like Jesus

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Verses to Explore: Philippians 2:1-11

Everything we see or hear enters our minds. The things we see and hear become the things we think about. If we see and hear bad things, things that make God unhappy,

we will think about bad things and things that make God unhappy.

As Christians we should not think about anything that makes God sad. Instead, we need to think about things that make God happy. Verse 1 in today’s reading lists some of the things we should think about. It says, “Think about what we have in Christ: the encouragement he has brought us, the comfort of his love, our sharing in his Spirit, and the mercy and kindness he has shown us.”

We should also “think the way Jesus thought” (Philippians 2:5). How did Jesus think?

Verses 6 – 11 in today’s reading show us that Jesus thought about what God wanted Him to do. Jesus thought about putting God’s plan ahead of Jesus’ own desires. We should be like Jesus and think about ways that we can put God’s plan ahead of our own desires. In verse 8 Paul gives us some guidelines for thinking like Jesus saying, “Brothers and sisters, continue to think about what is good and worthy of praise. Think about what is true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.”

Heavenly Father, help us to think about things that make You happy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I hope you will now take a little time to explore Philippians 2:1-11 some more and learn for yourself how to think like Jesus. Click the logo, download the Inductive Study Guide, and enjoy your time with the Lord and His word!
