Who Do You Rely On?

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Reading: Isaiah 46:5

Do you think that if you save enough money you will be secure for the rest of your life?

Do you think that if you take vitamins, eat healthy foods, get plenty of rest, and exercise regularly you will stay healthy and avoid any serious disease?

Do you think that if you work hard, don’t let anyone stand in your way as you “climb to the top” you are guaranteed success and happiness?

Saving money, healthy living, and hard work are important, but they can’t be relied upon to meet all of our needs. They are limited by the amount of strength that we have to put into them.

God’s strength isn’t limited. God is in control of all areas of our lives including our security, health, and success. In Isaiah 46:5 God said, “To whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?” There is no one like God. Only God can show us the things in our lives that are causing us to feel afraid, stressed, or guilty. Only God can show us the way to lasting peace and happiness. No one or nothing can compare with the strength of the true God and the peace and security that He can give to us.

Who or what are you relying on for peace, security, and happiness – things or your own strength – or the strength of God?

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” Isaiah 40:28

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I need you to take over my life. I don’t have the strength to go it alone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
