Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:27, 28
Marriage is intended to last a lifetime. In 1 Corinthians 2:27 Paul said, “Are you married? Do not seek a divorce.”
If you’ve been trying to figure out how you will know when Miss or Mr. “Right” comes along, pray and ask God to help you. When you have done that and you are waiting for God to answer your prayer, there are a few things that you should do.
First, spend time in places where the kind of girl or guy that you know God would choose for you would be found. For example, God wants Christians to marry Christians. Where can you find Christians? In church, at Christians seminars, retreats, and Christian bookstores. In other words, to find the kind of person God would want you to marry, go where those kinds of people spend time.
Next, Read what the Bible says about romantic relationships, marriage, and sex. Some passages to start with are:
* Genesis 2:23-34
* Song of Solomon
* Matthew 5:27, 28
* 1 Corinthians 7:8-17
* Ephesians 5:22-33
* Colossians 3:18, 19
* Titus 2:1-6
* Hebrews 13:4
* 1 Peter 3:1-7
Finally, keep praying. Don’t quit praying until God either answers your prayer by sending Miss or Mr. “Right” to you or clearly tells you, “No, I’m not going to send you a Miss or Mr. “Right.” I want you to stay single.” If God makes it clear that He wants you to stay unattached, He must have a special plan for your life.
“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14
Prayer: Heavenly Father, when the time is right send Miss (or Mr.) “Right” my way. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
