Bible Reading: Romans 12:1-12
When you walk into the classroom, go to a ball game, or go the mall, do you feel like you “fit in” or do you feel like you “stick out like a sore thumb”?
What is it that makes you different from other people? Is it the way you dress, the way you talk, the things you think are important, or the way you treat people?
Why do you want to “fit in”?
What changes would you have to make in order to “fit in” better? Would those changes please God or break his heart? Would they draw you closer to God or push Him away from you? Would they help you grow in your Christian walk or hinder it?
If you are a Christian, the only one you should want to “fit in” with is Jesus. In Romans 12:2, Paul gives us these instructions: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.” As Christians, we will never “fit in” the world. We should always stand out and be different from the world as we aim to “fit in” with God.
What changes do you need to make to better “fit in” with God?
“So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep [spiritually dead], but let us be alert and self-controlled. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.” 1 Thessalonians 5:6-8
Prayer: Heavenly Father, show me how I can better “fit in” with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
