Bible Verses to Explore: Proverbs 12:17-22
It is important to always tell the truth. Why? The Bible answers that question. The Bible explains three reasons to always tell the truth. What are they?
First, Exodus 20:16 tells us, "You must not tell lies about other people.” What does that mean? God has commanded us to tell the truth.
Second, God always tells the truth. Titus 1:2 says, “God does not lie.” Hebrews 6:18 says, “God cannot lie.” What does that mean? If we want to be like God, we need to always tell the truth.
Finally, Revelation 21:8, says, “But those who are cowards, those who refuse to believe, those who do terrible things, those who kill, those who sin sexually, those who do evil magic,
those who worship idols, and those who tell lies—they will all have a place in the lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” What does this mean? Anyone who tells lies can’t go to heaven.
Now you have three good reasons why you should always tell the truth. I hope you pay attention to the Bible’s message and remember to always tell the truth in every circumstance.
A final thought…Remember what Proverbs 12:22 says about God and people who tell lies. This verse says, “The Lord hates people who tell lies, but he is pleased with those who tell the truth.” Wow! Strong words, strong warning.
Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father, help us to always tell the truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
