Birth Stories - A Unique Look at the Birth of Christ - Part 11: Birth of a Redeemer

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

(We are taking a break from our Wednesday at the Well Bible studies because I know time is often limited during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Wednesday at the Well will resume after Christmas. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a Wonderful New Year! - Gayle)

Bible Reading: Galatians 4:1-7

Galatians 4:4 & 5 say, “But when the right time came, God sent his Son, who was born from a woman and lived under the law. God did this so that he could buy the freedom of those

who were under the law. God’s purpose was to make us his children.”

God decided that the right time to send a Redeemer was on the first Christmas. That first Christmas, God sent Jesus to be born from a woman, Mary, to be our Redeemer.

What is a redeemer?

A redeemer is a person who buys back something that already belongs to him.

God created us. We belonged to Him.

Then sin came. Sin separated us from God.

God wanted us to be with Him so He sent Jesus to buy us back – redeem us – so we could be with Him again.

Thank God for Jesus, the Redeemer, who was born on that first Christmas!

“Then a redeemer will come to Zion to save the people of Jacob who have turned away from sin.” Isaiah 59:20

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to redeem me from my sin. In Jesus' name. Amen.
