Birth Stories - A Unique Look at the Birth of Christ - Part 10: Birth of a Savior

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

(We are taking a break from our Wednesday at the Well Bible studies because I know time is often limited during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Wednesday at the Well will resume after Christmas. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a Wonderful New Year! - Gayle)

Bible Reading: 1 John 4:7-20

The baby born on that first Christmas was different than any other baby ever born. The baby born on that first Christmas was a savior.

What is a savior?

A savior is a person who rescues another person from danger. 1 John 4:14 tells us, “We have seen that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world, and this is what we tell people now.” Jesus was born that first Christmas to be our Savior. He was born to rescue us from the danger of sin.

God knew that our sin was separating us from Him. God wanted us to be with Him. God want us to be near Him.

So God sent a Savior, Jesus Christ, to rescue us from our sin. Because Jesus was born as a human baby, lived perfect, sinless human life, then died on the cross in our place, we have the opportunity to be with God in heaven forever.

How do we take advantage of that opportunity?

Admit our sin. Believe that Jesus is our Savior. Call on Jesus to forgive our sin and rescue us from it.

I hope you have claimed Jesus as your Savior. If not, please accept Him today.

“Anyone who says, “I believe that Jesus is the Son of God,” is a person who lives in God, and God lives in that person.” 1 John 4:15

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to be my Savior. Thank You that Jesus rescued me from my sin. In Jesus' name. Amen.
