Basics of Giving Thanks

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Reading: Psalm 100

This psalm is a classic thanksgiving psalm. It begins with the words, “Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.” Even at a glance, this psalm gives specific actions that we can take

to demonstrate to God how grateful we are for all He is and does. Use this psalm as your textbook on the basics of giving thanks to God. Here are its lessons. Learn them well!

* Shout for joy (verse 1).

* Worship the Lord (verse 2).

* Be glad (verse 2).

* Sing to God (verse 2).

* Know (act with certainty on) the facts that the Lord is God, God made us, and we belong to Him (verse 3).

* Enter into God’s presence (verse 4).

* Praise God (verse 4).

* Tell God thank you (verse 4).

* Give honor to God’s name (verse 4).

* Recognize God’s eternal nature, His faithfulness, and His love (verse 5).

Wow! Who knew that five short verses could teach so many powerful lessons!

“For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalm 100:5

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I have so many things to be thankful for, so…Thank You! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
