Wednesday at the Well: Colossians 2:6 - Be More Like Jesus

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Verse to Explore: Colossians 2:6

Who do you want to be like? Do you dress like them? Talk like them? Think like them? Why? What are the long-term benefits of acting, speaking or dressing like that

person?

Psalm 139:14 says you were “fearfully and wonderfully made.” God created you to be you. Colossians 2:16 says, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him.”

Have you considered trying to be more like Jesus rather than copying another person? Here are some of the traits of Jesus you could copy. He is:

* Strong

* Thoughtful

* Intelligent

* Wise

* Articulate

* Joyful

* Compassionate

* Confident

* At peace with himself and his Father

* Good

* Loving

* Patient

* Kind

* Gentle

Most of us try to be the best we can be. Who better to model our lives after that the only perfect person who ever lived – Jesus, God’s own Son!

I encourage you to download the Inductive Study Guide and do some meditation and study on Colossians 2:6 and perhaps a few other verses that will help you to become more like Jesus such as 1 Peter 2:21, Galatians 5:22 & 23, Romans 8:2-8 and many others. (Here’s a link to a good list of Bible verses about being like Jesus at OpenBible.info that will give you lots more good verses to explore!)

Let’s pray than you can get started with your study.

Heavenly Father, help me to follow Jesus so I can become more like every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
