A Servant of God

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 4:1

1 Corinthians 4:1 says, “So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.” That describes Isaiah.

Isaiah was a “what-man”. He learned what God wanted him to do and he did it. Isaiah obeyed God even when God’s instructions were unusual. Isaiah didn’t waste time questioning God as to why God wanted him to do a something, he just got busy serving God. Isaiah trusted that God knew what He was doing and that what God was doing was the best thing for Isaiah and for those to whom Isaiah prophesied. As a result, people regarded Isaiah as a servant of God.

We should be servants like Isaiah. We shouldn’t spend a lot of time asking God why He allowed something to happen, why He wants us to do something, or why He won’t allow us to do something that we want to do. Instead, we should leave the “why” to God. He has His reasons for everything that He does. He also has reasons for everything that He asks us to do.

Instead of asking why God wants us to do something, we should concentrate on what God wants us to do. We should simply say, “Yes, Lord,” and get busy doing obeying God. That way we, like Isaiah, will be regarded as servants of God.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23 & 24

Prayer: Heavenly Father, tell me what You want me to do and I’ll do it. I want to be regarded as Your servant. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
