Wednesday at the Well: Mark 8:27-30 - Ice Breakers (Part 1)

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Verses to Explore: Matthew 8:27-30

An “ice breaker” is something you do or say to help people to feel comfortable. Ice breakers help to start conversation, too.

One of Jesus’ favorite ice breakers was asking questions. Jesus often asked questions to cause His disciples to think about God and God’s plan. Today’s Bible reading shows us two examples of questions that Jesus asked. In verse 27 Jesus asked, “Who do people say I am?” In verse 29 Jesus asks, “Who do you say I am?” These questions helped His disciples understand who Jesus was and why Jesus came to earth.

Sometimes it can be hard for us to know how to start talking to people about Jesus and His plan of salvation. Let’s follow Jesus’ example and ask questions to start the

conversation and cause people to think about Jesus. For example, we might ask: “What’s your opinion of Jesus?” Or “Do you read the Bible?” Or “Do you believe in Heaven?” Or “What do you think happens to people when they die?” or “What do you think a real Christian is?” Or “Do you believe in eternal life?”

I hope you will use these questions, or questions that you make up to talk to someone about Jesus today. You can add this questions to your Inductive Bible Study time, just click the image to download your study guide and you can get started.

Heavenly Father, help us choose the right words to tell our friends about Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
