Bible Reading: Psalm 66:18 & Matthew 21:22
Do you feel like your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling and coming right back to you unanswered? Are you tempted to quit praying?
Don’t give up!
There are a couple of possible reasons why you might not be getting answers to your prayers.
First, there may be sin in your life. Psalm 66:18 says, “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” If you have done something wrong, you need to ask God for forgiveness so that He will hear your prayers again.
Second, God may be making you wait in order to give you something even better or He may be waiting for just the right time to answer your prayers. Since God knows everything, he knows the best time and the best way to answer your prayers.
Third, God may have already answered your prayer, but the answer may have been different from what you expected or you might be ignoring the answer because it wasn’t the answer that you wanted.
Finally, God could be waiting until He is sure that you can handle the answer when it comes, so keep praying. When the answers to your prayers do come, you’ll be excited knowing that you are the kind of person that God can trust to handle the answers.
I encourage you to keep praying! God has promised that “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer” (Matthew 21:22).
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” James 5:16
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m going to keep praying until You answer my prayer. Help me to recognize and accept the answer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
