The Power of the Holy Spirit

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Bible Reading: Judges 16:28

Samson was far from perfect. He often resorted to violence. He disobeyed God’s laws. He spent time with the wrong crowd. He romanced ungodly women.

Finally, Samson returned to God. Judges 16:28 records Samson’s plea saying, “Sovereign LORD, remember me. O God, please strengthen me just once more.” In spite of all of Samson’s shortcomings, God filled Samson with the power of the Holy Spirit. When Samson came to God regretful of his past ways, God gave Samson the power of the Holy Spirit so that Samson could do the job that God had put Samson on the earth to do – punish a wicked nation who was rebellious and disobedient to God.

Have you been ignoring or disobeying God up until now? Have you been determined to live your life your own way regardless of the plans that God may have for you?

God will gladly forgive you for your stubbornness and happily fill you with His Holy Spirit who will give you the power that you need to obey God eagerly and willingly.

No matter how imperfect you are, God can and will forgive you and give you the power of the Holy Spirit.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive me and send your Spirit to live in me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
