Healing the Ache of Heartache

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: Psalm 116:7

What has happened in your life that has your heart aching?

Sadly, heartaches can happen quickly, but can take a long time to heal.

The Bible tells of many people who suffered heartaches. Hagar was broken hearted when she thought her son, Ishmael, was going to die. David was broken hearted when his son Absalom was killed. Hannah was broken hearted when she couldn’t conceive a child. The list goes on.

Each of these people showed us in their reaction to the ache of heartbreak the first and most important step to begin the healing. Each one of them told God every detail of what had bruised their hearts, and asked God to give them comfort and assurance. Each one of them trusted God to ease their pain.

If your heart is aching, be comforted by the words of Psalm 116:7 – “Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.” and follow the example of Hagar, David, and Hannah. Go to God and ask God to begin healing your broken heart.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3 & 4

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I need Your comfort. My heart is aching. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
