Nightmares

Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:25-26

None of us likes to be startled awake, shaking in fear, and gasping for breath, but, sadly, worry, fear, and stress often lead to nightmares.

When we walk with God, we don’t have to let those daytime negatives become nighttime nightmares. Here are some steps that you can take to put worry, fear, and stress in its proper place.

* Hand over your worries, fears, and stresses to God. Write down whatever it is that has you worked up, put it in an envelope addressed to “God, in Heaven,” and “mail” it to God by way of the trash can. Leave it for him to find and deal with.

* Keep your eyes on God. Make a list of some of the ways God has taken care of you in the past. Read it over often.

* Keep you mind on God. Choose a favorite verse of scripture that gives you strength and courage. Memorize it and say it to yourself often.

* Keep and ears on God. Spend lots of time reading the Bible and praying aloud. That is sort of like whistling in the dark, you will be less nervous, fearful, or stressed when you are listening to God’s Word.

I hope you will follow the advice of Solomon in Proverbs 3:25 & 26 and “Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.”

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Prayer: Heavenly Father, use Your power to handle the negatives in my day and give me peaceful dreams at night. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
