Limits of Your Strength

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:25

The honey guide is a little bird that isn’t very strong. He loves to eat the waxy comb of a beehive, but he isn’t strong enough to crush the beehive himself and even if he was,

he could never survive the attack of the angry bees. When he has found a beehive he calls upon the strength of his friend the honey badger to crush the beehive and dispose of the bees (the honey badger eats the bees along with the honey). This little bird knows the limits of his own strength. He knows when to go to someone stronger for help and protection.

Do you try to do everything by yourself? Do you think that you can handle everything?

Sooner or later, you will come across a situation that will be too much for you to handle. When that happens, remember what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 1:25 – “For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.” We, like the honey guide, aren’t strong enough to handle everything life throws at us by ourselves. We need help. We need to take a lesson from the honey guide. We need to go to someone stronger than yourself for help and protection. We need to go to God!

Don’t try to live life on your own! God wants to live life with you. He wants to give you the wisdom and strength you need to face all of life’s challenges.

“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m not strong enough to handle many of the things that come my way. I need Your strength to help and protect me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
