Love Protects

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:6-7

If you had a puppy, would you let him run around in the street? If you had a parakeet, would you open the window and let it fly in the backyard? If you had a younger

brother or sister who was allergic to milk, would you give him or her a big bowl of ice cream to snack on?

Of course, you would never do those things.

First, they would be foolish, even dangerous things to do. Besides, you wouldn’t want to endanger or hurt your pet or brother or sister – because you love him or her.

When you love someone, you do everything that you can do to protect him or her from any kind of harm. Paul said it this way in 1 Corinthians 13:6 & 7 – “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Does the way you treat your parents, brothers and sisters, friends, and enemies show them that you love them? Do you do everything in your power to ensure that they are not hurt, physically or emotionally, because of things that you do or neglect to do?

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34 & 35

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and protecting me. Help me to do the same for those around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
