Wednesday at the Well: Luke 6:38 - Don't Hold Back!

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Do you think of yourself as a generous, giving person? Are you willing to share or even give away all of the blessings God has given you?

We often hold back our most special possessions. Probably because we are afraid that they’ll become worn out or used up, and we won’t have them anymore. Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.” God doesn’t want us to hold back. He wants us to be generous with people, sharing everything God has blessed us with: our material possessions, our time, our love, and the hope we have in Jesus.

Jesus freely gave us His love, forgiveness, and the salvation and He provides for all our needs, “pressed down, shaken together, and running over.” He wants us to do the

same. He wants us to give, to share, and to love “pressed down, shaken together, and running over,” holding nothing back.

Let’s all keep in mind Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 9:6 & 7 – “…Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, help us to be as giving and generous as Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
