Trade Stress for Peace

Bible Reading: Philippians 4:7

One of the main sources of stress is our own thoughts. If we are filling our minds with negative, worrisome, fearful thoughts, we set ourselves up for stress. Those kinds of

thoughts are guaranteed to stress us out. What can we do to get rid of those negative thoughts and that negative stress?

Replace those negative, worrisome, fearful thoughts with the kinds of thoughts listed in Philippians 4:8 –“…Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy.”

These kinds of thoughts give us a peace that comes only from God. This peace is the confidence that even during “stressful” times, God is in control and we can trust Him to take care of us and take care of the stressful situation.

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” James 4:7

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to replace all of the negative thoughts that are creating stress in my life with positive, godly thoughts, then fill me with Your peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
