Bible Reading: Proverbs 19:11
The path that we need to take to forgive other people of the wrongs that they have done to us is hard to find. It’s not easy to forgive someone who has hurt us, even though
Solomon tells us, “A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense” (Proverbs 19:11).
Even when we do find it, it is so narrow that it is difficult to stay on it. Below are five tips to help you find the path to forgiving others and help you stay on it.
* Abandon pride. Remind yourself of the careless, hurtful words and actions that you have said and done in the past.
* Give the person who hurt you, his attitudes, and his behavior to God. Let God deal with him.
* Give the specific words or actions that hurt you to God. Let him give you comfort, peace, and healing in their place.
* Accept God’s timing in dealing with the person and your hurt. Trust God.
* Ask God to replace the anger and hurt you feel toward the person who hurt you with love for that person.
“Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3:13
Prayer: Father, help me to forgive and show love to the one who hurt me. I trust You to deal with him in Your own way in your own time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
