Benefits of Prayer

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: Hebrews 4:16

Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” This verse tells us that

there are benefits to prayer. Two of these benefits are mercy and grace.

What other benefits do we get when we regularly spend time praying?

* Prayer gives us the opportunity to have God, himself, help us make positive changes in our lives.

* Prayer gives us the opportunity to show God that we trust His ability to handle our problems.

* Prayer gives us the opportunity to show God that we trust Him to be just.

* Prayer gives us the opportunity to thank God for all the good things that He’s done for us.

* Prayer gives us the opportunity to tell God how much we love Him.

* Prayer gives us the opportunity to tell God how wonderful we think He is.

* Prayer gives us the opportunity to trade worry and fear for peace and security.

* Prayer gives us the opportunity to trade doubt for confidence in God’s willingness to do what is best for us.

* Prayer gives us the opportunity to love others by asking God to do what is best for them.

Remember, the key to benefiting from all of these opportunities is to pray regularly and to pray sincerely. Prayer is more than asking God to bless our food and asking Him to watch over us while we sleep. Prayer is humbly going to God with every detail of our lives, giving the details to Him, and trusting Him to handle them.

“Pray continually.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for all the wonderful benefits of prayer! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
