Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 6:14
We all must make big decisions during our lives: Get married or remain single? Drink alcohol or don’t drink? We also make many small decisions every day: Chicken or
steak? Red shirt or blue shirt? Stay up and watch TV or go to bed early? Some decisions are easy. Other decisions are very hard to make.
Suppose you need help making a decision, where can you go for help?
The Bible.
The Bible doesn’t come right out and say, “Get married,” or “Don’t smoke,” but the Bible does give us principles—basic guidelines—that will fit every situation.
2 Corinthians 6:14a, for example, says, “You are not the same as those who don't believe. So don't join yourselves to them.” That means that a Christian should only marry another Christian.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 teaches us to take care of our bodies because they are where the Holy Spirit lives. That means that we should not smoke, do drugs, overeat, or do anything else that could harm our bodies.
If we learn the principles that are in the Bible, they will guide us and help us to make good decisions.
I hope you are learning God’s principles. I hope you think about them and use them to help you make good decisions. Remember that Proverbs 13:16 says, “Wise people always think before they do anything, but fools show how stupid they are by what they do.” Proverbs 13:16
Let’s pray. Heavenly Father, teach us Your principles. Help us to use them to make good decisions. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
