Death (A Topic We Don't Like Talking about)

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: John 5:24

We will all die physically, but we don’t have to die spiritually.

Physical death is the stopping of our bodily functions and the separation of our body

from our soul.

Spiritual death is being separated from God forever.

While physical death may seem scary, it isn’t a threat to Christians because Christians know that when our earthly body stops working, our soul will go on living. John 5:24 tells us, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”

Jesus’ died then came to life again to put an end to the hold that death has over us. If we believe that Jesus died so that we don’t have to die, we won’t experience spiritual death by being separated from God forever. If we believe that Jesus died but is now alive and in heaven with God the Father, we will never die spiritually.

Do you believe that Jesus died for you so that you don’t have to die spiritually?

Have you told Jesus that you believe that His death made it possible for you to live forever with God?

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus died so that I could live forever. Forgive my past unbelief and give me eternal life in heaven. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
