Bible Reading: Ephesians 4:26-32

Have you ever opened a carton of milk then discovered it smelled sour? Nothing about the outside of the carton warned you that the milk was sour, but you couldn’t drink

even a little of the milk, it was all spoiled.

Bitterness does the same thing to a person’s heart. When a person refuses to forgive someone, he may look fine on the outside, but inside, his heart is spoiled. Refusing to forgive caused him to become angry. That anger became hatred and hatred became bitterness. That person became sour in his heart.

Milk can’t be made fresh or new again, but a bitter person’s heart can become fresh and new. How? Jesus said, “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” (Matthew 6:14). That means the person who is bitter and angry needs to forgive the person he who hurt him. When he forgives the person who hurt him, God will forgive him for being bitter.

Are you angry and bitter inside? Forgive the person who hurt you. Ask God to help

you to have a fresh, new heart (attitude) toward that person. Don’t wait! Paul says in verse 26, “‘When you are angry, don't let that anger make you sin,’ and don't stay angry all day.”

Let’s pray, then you can begin your Inductive Bible Study of Ephesians 4:26-32. Remember, click the logo to download the study guide.

Heavenly Father, please, forgive our bitterness and help us to forgive anyone who has hurt us. Guide our study time now. Thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
