Bible Reading: Romans 6:4
Romans 6:4 says, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may
live a new life."
New life in Christ is more than just a “fresh start.” New life with Christ isn’t just starting again to build our lives on the same old foundation. With Christ, new life includes building our life on a new foundation – Jesus – using a new way of thinking, a new way of behaving, new ways of speaking, and new desires.
When we ask Jesus to take the lead in our lives, a new life isn’t the only new thing He gives us. Jesus also gives us:
* A new song (Psalm 40:3).
* A new name (Revelation 2:17).
* A new body (1 Corinthians 15:44).
In fact, Jesus says that with His Holy Spirit living in us we are a completely new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), all new from the inside out and from top to bottom.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m sorry that I’ve held onto my old life for so long. Forgive me and make me all new through Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
