Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 24:1
“Again the anger of the LORD burned…”
Yes, you read those words from 2 Samuel 24:1 correctly. God does become angry.
We know that because scripture tells us so.
What things make God angry? God becomes angry when:
* We argue with Him and think we know better that He does (Exodus 4).
* We complain and aren’t content with what He has provided or the position in which He has placed us (Numbers 11:1 and 12:9).
* We worship, honor, or give importance to anything other than God (Joshua 7:1).
* We don’t honor Jesus (Psalm 2:12).
* We reject Jesus as Lord and Savior (John 3:36).
* We refuse to admit to ourselves and to God the fact that we are sinners (Romans 1:18).
* We disobey God (Ephesians 5:6).
Knowing that God becomes angry assures us that it isn’t a sin for us to become angry, but when we do become angry, we need to follow the Psalmist’s advice, “In your
anger do not sin…” (Psalm 4:4).
Have you acted in anger recently?
Are you continuing to do any of the things that cause God to become angry?
Remember the words of Psalm 4:4: “In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah.”
It's time for us to pray. Heavenly Father, I’m sorry for acting in anger. I’m also sorry for causing You to become angry because of my behavior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
