Run to the Tower

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: Proverbs 18:10

In medieval times, there were castles. During the days of the American pioneer, there were forts. Throughout all history, people have constructed buildings and other

enclosures to protect them from the dangers around them.

Proverbs 18:10 says: “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” God’s very name is the tower, the castle, the fort, for the Christian. When a Christian is feeling scared, threatened, alone, or endangered his safety is not in running to a building. His safety is in running to the name of the LORD.

How do we run to the name of the LORD?

*Through faith – confident belief that God will always be there when we need him.

*Through prayer – telling God our troubles and fears and asking him for his help and protection.

* Through devotion – committing our lives to God and to doing his work even in the midst of our fear.

* Through dependence – relying on God alone for help and protection.

Have you giving your life to God? Are you confident that he is there and will always be there to be your “strong tower?”

If not, please consider asking God for his forgiveness, salvation, and protection right now.

“For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.” Psalm 61:3

Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive all of the wrong things that I’ve done. Save me and become my “strong tower” today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
