Bible Reading: 1 John 4:13
Imagine that you have crossed a racetrack to the center infield. When a race begins, it isn’t possible, practical or safe to re-cross the track while cars are speeding around the
track. You can see the people on the other side. You can remember what it was like to be on the other side, you might even have moments when you wish that you were on the other side again, but you must stay where you are.
Likewise, when you’ve “crossed the track” by asking God to forgive your sins and send the Holy Spirit to live in you, you are on the “infield” with God to stay. You can see the people that are still living apart from God. You can remember what it was like when you were living away from God. You may even have moments when you think that you would like to be back on the other side of the track again.
However, once you are on the “infield” with God you are there to stay. 1 John 4:13 says, “We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.” In other words, you can be confident that God is always with you because His Holy Spirit always lives in you. God won’t give up on you or send you back across the track, because He loves you and He wants you to always be with Him just as He has promised to always be with you.
Thank God for this wonderfully reassuring promise!
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20b
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I feel so safe knowing that you are always there. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
