A Jewel Rarer than Diamonds

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: Proverbs 20:15

Diamonds. Rubies. Emeralds. Sapphires. These precious jewels are rare and beautiful gifts. We love to look at them, admiring them as the sunlight it causes them to

sparkle. People spend thousands of dollars investing in these beautiful rare jewels.

The Bible says that we can possess a jewel that is even more beautiful than a diamond – and even more rare. That jewel is found in Proverbs 20:15 which says, “Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.” What is the rare jewel spoken of in this verse? That rare jewel is “lips that speak knowledge.”

“Lips that speak knowledge” means a mind that is filled with wisdom and a mouth that is able to clearly share that wisdom with other people. We can’t buy “lips that speak knowledge” for any amount of money. We can only possess this priceless jewel by investing time with God, the source of all wisdom, by studying his Word and asking him to give us this gift.

How much are you investing in this priceless jewel that God is offering to you?

“He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.” Proverbs 13:3

Prayer: Heavenly Father, fill me with your wisdom so that I can speak with “lips that speak knowledge.” In Jesus’ name. Amen.
