The Power to Make Wise Decisions

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 21:11

King Jehoram thought he had everything under control. He thought, since he was king, his power and strength was enough to sustain himself, his family, and the rest of the

nation.

Sadly, Jehoram’s “power” led him to make foolish decisions, decisions that led to the downfall of his family and his nation as well has an end to his own life. 2 Chronicles 21:11 we read that Johoram “…had also built high places on the hills of Judah and had caused the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves and had led Judah astray.” It didn’t make any difference how much power Jehoram thought he had, his decisions to worship false gods and lead the Israelites to worship false gods is proof that even kings and leaders lack any true power when compared to God.

Are you trying to everything on your own? Do you think that you can handle anything that comes your way? Do you think that you can manage just fine without God’s help?

If so, think again. Without God’s Spirit to empower you, you are truly powerless. You can do nothing. However, with God’s Holy Spirit in your life, you “can do everything through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5 & 6

Prayer: Heavenly Father, send Your Spirit to live in my heart and give me the power to make wise decisions. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
