Firsthand Experience

Bible Reading: John 1:45 & Romans 8:9-11

You probably know a bit about what the moon is like, but unless you actually visit the moon and experience it for yourself, you can’t have a full appreciation for what the moon

is like. You have to experience the moon firsthand.

The same applies for Jesus. John 1:45 tells us, “Philip found Nathanael and told him, ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’” Nathanael could have sat under the fig tree all day and listened to Philip describe what Jesus was like. Nathanael could have listened to all of the reasons that Philip believed that Jesus was the Messiah, but unless Nathanael left the shade of that fig tree and followed Philip to where Jesus was, he would never get to know Jesus personally. He needed a firsthand experience with Jesus.

If you want to fully experience what it is like to be genuinely forgiven and to live with the power of the Holy Spirit helping you make decisions and making your prayers clear to God, you can’t just sit back and listen to someone else’s experience. You have to experience Jesus firsthand.

Go to Jesus right now and tell him that you want to get to know him personally.

“But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” Romans 8:10 & 11

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to know You and be filled with Your Spirit personally. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
