Bible Reading: Proverbs 19:21

A “fail-safe” is a switch, program, or system that returns a machine to a safe operating mode. It prevents damage to machinery and harm to machine operators.

Today’s Bible reading is the words of King Solomon. He wrote, “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevail.”

I suspect that you, like most people, have many plans, many things that you would like to accomplish in your lifetime. Would you like to have all of your plans succeed, while, at the same time, keeping you safe from the harm caused by sin?

There is only one way to guarantee that all of your plans succeed, only one way to ensure that you will remain safe from the harm caused by sin and its consequences, only one true “fail-safe.” Your plans must be the same as God’s plans.

God has a special set of plans for your life. If everything you set out to do is what God wants you to set out to do, you will succeed every time because God’s plans never fail. They will keep you safe, right in the center of God’s will for your life.

How can you know if your plans are God’s plans for your life?

* Spend time everyday studying God’s Word.

* Spend time everyday asking God for his directions for your life.

* Be sure that every action that you plan to take lines up with the two “greatest commandments”: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” and “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37).

Acting on God’s plan is the only fail-safe plan. Are you following it?

“In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

Prayer: Heavenly Father, show me Your plan for my life so that I can act on it. In Jesus' name. Amen.
