Wednesday at the Well: Psalm 23 - Inductive Bible Study

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

God, our Heavenly Father, made it abundantly clear through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ that He wants to have a relationship with us.

However, God’s desire to have a relationship with us didn’t start with Matthew chapter 1. God has desired a relationship with us since before He created humankind. The thread of this desire runs throughout the Bible.

One of the best known and most beloved passages that speaks of God’s desire to have an intimate, loving relationship with each and every one of us is Psalm 23. I encourage you to read this Psalm, slowly, and meditate on the relationship that David describes in this psalm, then spend some time talking with our Heavenly Father and reveling in this unique and special relationship.

Psalm 23:

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters,

he restores my soul.

He guides me in paths of righteousness

for his name's sake.

Even though I walk

through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,

they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD

forever.”
