Light the Way

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: Matthew 5:13-16

Matthew 5:16 Jesus said, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” What was Jesus’ point?

As Jesus’ faithful followers we should each be living in such a way that our words and actions act as a light that leads people straight to God.

David visits nursing homes.

Emily sings in church.

Suzanne helps an elderly neighbor.

Lauren tells people who Jesus is, what He did for them, and why He did it.

These four people have each found a different way to let their lights shine for Jesus. However, the ways that David, Emily, Suzanne, and Lauren let their lights shine aren’t the only ways to share the love of God with other people. God has given you skills and talents and gifts, too. Skills and talents and gifts that you can use to let your light shine and show people the way to Jesus.

So, I ask you…Are you actively serving the Lord? Are you reaching out to share Jesus with other people? Are you doing something to show other people that God loves them? Are you lighting the way to Jesus?

“You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14a

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to let my light shine brightly so that others will be able to clearly see the way to Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
