With Your Whole Body

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: Romans 6:11-23

Have you ever thought of eating as a way to show love and respect to God? It is.

When we eat, we should eat in a way that keeps our body healthy and energized

so that we can do the jobs that God has for us to do. That means that we should eat only until we are satisfied – not stuffed – eating only the amount of food that our bodies need to be nourished and energized. That also means that we should eat foods that provide the vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to stay healthy and active.

Every part of our bodies belong to God. Romans 6:13 says, “Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.”

Every part of our bodies should be used in ways that please and honor God. That includes your mouth, stomach, and the rest of your digestive system.

Like the Apostle Paul says, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Are you honoring God with every part of your body?

“I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.” Romans 6:19

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I want to honor You with my whole body. Help me to do that. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
