Bible Reading: Song of Solomon 2:15
In today’s Bible verse, Solomon spoke about “little foxes” saying, “Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.”
The “little foxes” that Solomon was writing about are the “little” sins in our lives. Often we think of “little sins” only as irritations. We think that they are annoying, maybe aggravating, but we don’t truly believe that they are “evil”.
However, “little sins”, like “little foxes” can nibble away at the understanding, patience, and grace that is present at the beginning of our relationships. They can eat away at our relationships with other people or with God a little at a time. They can keep a relationship from being able to grow into the beautiful, mature relationship that God wants us to experience.
Those “little foxes” can also lead to bigger things that can cause great damage to our relationships with people. They can destroy our fellowship with God. They can chew away at the vines that keep us attached to God causing them to snap so that we will no longer want to be drawn near to God.
What “little foxes” do you have running wildly through the vineyard of your relationships with other people?
What “little foxes” do you have running wildly through the vineyard of your relationship with God?
“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to catch the “little foxes” that are wreaking havoc in my relationships with other people and my relationship with you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
