Pure Life

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

1 Thessalonians 4:3 tells us “It is God's will that you should be sanctified.” That means that God wants us to live a pure life. A life free of anything impure, unholy, or

dishonorable. A life set apart to honor God. In fact, using your body to do anything impure, unholy, or dishonorable is the same thing as rejecting God.

When God, our Heavenly Father, sends his Holy Spirit to live in our hearts, he expects us to live a pure, holy life. When we choose not to live up to God’s expectation and plan for our lives by choosing to do impure, unholy, or dishonorable things with our bodies, we are also choosing to reject God, to push him aside. We are deciding that we know better than God does what is best for our lives. We are deciding that we are wise enough to do things our own way. We are deciding that we don’t need God or his wisdom.

Are the things that you are doing with your body drawing God toward you or pushing him away?

“Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” Romans 13:14

Prayer: Heavenly Father, come close to me and help me to live a life of purity and honor. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
