Hit the Brakes

Bible Reading: James 2:19

Do you know what to do if you are driving a car and you come to a stop sign? Of course, you put your foot on the brake pedal and push down to stop the car.

However, knowing that you need to put your foot on the brake pedal and push to stop the car is one thing, doing it is another. All too often, an accident happens because a driver neglected to do what he knew he was supposed to do.

Salvation is a lot like that. James 2:19 tells us, “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder.” Many people know that Jesus is God and that they need to be rescued from their sins, but they drive right on through life and neglect to act on what they know.

Have you “put on the brake of sin”? Have you acted on what you know to be true? Have you told Jesus that you believe that he is God and that he died so you could be forgiven for your sins?

Don’t keep driving recklessly through life – hit the brakes right now and let Jesus take over the wheel.

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:7 & 8

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m sorry I kept driving by myself for so long. Forgive me and take the wheel. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
