No Little Sins

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Bible Reading: James 2:10, 11

When is it a sin for a teen to get home late? When his or her parents have specifically given a time to return home and he or she

has deliberately stay out past that time.

Can you think of other things that are ordinarily okay to do that become wrong when you have been specifically instructed not to do them?

The list could probably be endless.

God tells us that anything that we do that could in any way hurt someone else, cause someone else to do something wrong, or that is deliberately disobedient to anyone in authority is sin. That includes things like getting home late, not cleaning your room, or taking the car without asking – even though those things may seem “little” to us. James 2:10 & 11 say, “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For he who said, ‘Do not commit adultery,’ also said, ‘Do not murder.’ If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.” There are no “little” sins with God. Sin is sin. We have all sinned. We have all failed God. We all need a Savior. We all need Jesus.

Are their “little” things in the back closet of your life that you need to clean out?

Ask God to forgive your sins – big and little. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and help you live a life that is pleasing and acceptable to God.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23

Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive all my sins – big and “little.” In Jesus’ name. Amen.
